Helen Watt’s career includes engineering positions in construction, facilities management, and structural design and evaluation for employers including the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Bath Iron Works Corporation, and Cianbro Corporation, and she previously worked for Criterium Engineers for seven years. Most recently she ran her own structural engineering consulting business, Helen Watts Engineering, for more than 12 years. Helen returned to Criterium Engineers in 2020.
Helen has the OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety and Health card and MaineDOT LAP and Erosion Control certifications. She also is certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and the Structural Engineering Certification Board (SECB). She’s a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers, the Structural Engineers Association of Maine (where she serves on the Structural Engineering Emergency Response committee), and also on the board for the Timber Frame Engineering Council. Helen is author of the Graphic Handbook of the Pretty Good House.
She’s a graduate of the University of Maine and the University of New Hampshire. Helen serves on the Town of Bowdoin Planning Board.
